HEMU Wind Orchestra

Founded in 2012, the HEMU Wind Orchestra is an instrumental ensemble made up of musicians from the brass and woodwind classes at HEMU - Fribourg-Freiburg and HEMU - Vaud. Conducted by leading guest conductors, it offers a complementary dimension to orchestral practice. With its great flexibility in terms of size, it covers a rich repertoire based on chamber harmony.

The HEMU – Fribourg-Freiburg is the benchmark for brass teaching. In keeping with the excellence of the canton's wind instrument ensembles, the Fribourg site makes it a point of honour to offer its students as wide a range of musical experiences as possible, with ensemble music taking pride of place.

Today, the HEMU Wind Orchestra performs under the baton of renowned conductors such as Frenchmen Philippe Ferro and Paul Meyer. It collaborates with other ensembles from the HEMU - Haute École de Musique, such as the Ensemble contemporain de l'HEMU, and is included in the programme of festivals such as FIMS - Festival de Musiques Sacrées de Fribourg.
