HEMU Orchestra
Under the baton of such international figures as Ton Koopman, Jesús López Cobos, Ralph Weikert, Christian Zacharias, Bertrand de Billy, Simone Young, Benjamin Levy, Claire Gibault, Joshua Weilerstein and Kristiina Poska, the HEMU Orchestra has embraced a repertoire spanning nearly four centuries of musical creation, from 1650 to the present day.
It has performed Hector Berlioz's Symphonie fantastique and the Fifth Symphonies of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and Gustav Mahler, as well as premiering a work by Caroline Charrière, hosting 100% Gershwin and Michel Legrand evenings, and taking part in several oratorio programmes with the HEMU Vocalists, all of which have been recorded.
Thanks to a privileged collaboration with the Sinfonietta de Lausanne since 2021 and the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne (OCL) since 2007, the orchestra is exploring a vast repertoire, performing major works such as Anton Bruckner's symphonies, Claude Debussy's La Mer, Maurice Ravel's La Valse, Antonin Dvorák's New World Symphony and Igor Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring at the Metropole Performance Hall in Lausanne. This dynamic collaboration also extends to the Orchestre de Chambre Fribourgeois (OCF), with whom he performed Moussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition in 2024, and with whom he will perform Gustav Mahler's 3rd Symphony in the 2025-2026 season.
The HEMU Orchestra has also made a name for itself on the opera stage, taking part in such notable productions as Arthur Honegger's Les Aventures du Roi Pausole, Benjamin Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Marriage of Figaro and Mozart's Così Fan Tutte. He is a regular guest on prestigious stages such as the Opéra de Lausanne, the Crochetan in Monthey, the Théâtre Équilibre in Fribourg, the Rosey Concert Hall in Rolle, the Auditorium Stravinski in Montreux and the Théâtre du Jorat in Mézières, and maintains a fruitful collaboration with the NOF - Nouvel Opéra Fribourg.
