HEMU Jazz Orchestra
A real experience accelerator, the HEMU Jazz Orchestra offers young musicians an opportunity to enter the professional music world and perform with established artists.
Made up of students pursuing a Master's degree in performance at the HEMU - Haute École de Musique, the ensemble aims to represent the next generation of the jazz scene. The HEMU Jazz Orchestra covers a wide repertoire, and each project gives these young talents the opportunity to work under the artistic direction of one or more internationally renowned musicians - either an external contributor or a professor at the HEMU - and then to perform alongside them. In recent years, the HEMU Jazz Orchestra has played host to major artists such as Dave Liebman, Richard Galliano, Nik Bärtsch and Bojan Z.
The HEMU Jazz Orchestra performs on prestigious stages several times a year, thanks to its wide network of partners : Cully Jazz Festival, JazzOnze+ Festival and Nova Jazz Festival.
The HEMU Jazz Orchestra is made up of three to five tenured musicians who are joined, depending on the project, by other students from the HEMU's jazz and classical departments.
